The Beautiful Oregon Coast – Pacific City

We headed out to Pacific city for four nights and had the best time. We’ve already been to and loved this coastal town (the beach here is so great!), but this was our first time at this Thousand Trails campground. It’s by far our favorite TT campground so far!

We were told to find the open spot we wanted, so we unhooked the tow car and set off to drive around, with me leading the way while reading the map. Ha! We quickly discovered it’s very hilly and curvy and the map isn’t super accurate… but we liked the looks of the private sites with lots of trees, so we knew we’d love the campground once we got settled.

We were headed for the full hookup sites (that’s when you get an electric, water, and sewer hookup at your site) to check them out first. Well, they’re way on the other side of the campground and we got stuck behind a couple having a hard time parking their travel trailer. They were clearly new at parking this thing, and were trying to hurry and figure it out, and we were very understanding as we’ve all been there! But, after a few minutes of watching them get nowhere with it, we decided to go ahead and turn around (there was an easy area for Mike to back into and turn around) and try to take another route through the campground. We know how much pressure you feel trying to figure out things with your RV with an audience.

The confusing map made me miss a turn … AND THANK GOODNESS IT DID!

We drove into the first loop of the campground thinking we’d use it to turn around, and came across the best spot! It was huge, mostly level, and we decided we better just take it since we didn’t know if it got any better any where else. Later on a drive through all the loops showed us that we made the right choice. It was definitely one of the best spots in the campground, by our standards at least.

Here are some pictures of our time in Pacific City. It was such a quiet, relaxing, and beautiful few days. We had very little service which let a text go through now and then, and (while annoying to me due to my phone addiction) was probably just what we needed!

Some pix from the campground.

One day we drove south to check out Devil’s Punchbowl. Neither of us had ever seen it and it was worth the drive! On our way down, we stopped in Depoe Bay to have lunch at the Seahag, and go for a little walk.

Another of our days there we spent on the beach enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of the Pacific. We miss the ocean. And we, of course, stopped in a local bar for a quick drink since we always love a divey bar.

This was our final night in Pacific City. We LOVE a campfire on the beach. Add in a sunset, and it’s magical!

It was an amazing four nights away from the city to recharge and relax. No service, just us, and the beauty of the ocean was just what we didn’t even know we had needed.

If you’ve never seen the Oregon coast, and get a chance to, it’s gorgeous…
