Lost in Sunriver
After two nights in Steens, we drove to just outside Sunriver, Oregon. The Bend/Sunriver Thousand Trails campground was our home for two nights.
The campground was great; it’s very much a “real” campground as opposed to just an RV campground. Spots with some privacy and space are definitely our speed. There was an electric and water hookup, but no sewer (which was just fine for us).
The first night we drove into Bend, about 20 minutes away, and went to our favorite brewery space there: Crux Fermentation. The beer is totally up Mike’s alley as they’re definitely IPA heavy. I don’t really have a beer I love there, but the outdoor space is just so great that we both love it. We ate dinner, had a few beers, and picked up some swag.
Back at the campground we took Vlade for a little walk, then went on our own walk… right as it started to get dark. Well, that was a mistake. WE GOT LOST in the campground. This place is confusing as there is no rhyme or reason to the loops. Perhaps we had more drinks than we should have (this was my first time drunk on the trip…dammit Crux!). So, we walked around for a while, still not finding our site… ugh.
Finally, I used my phone to map us to the front of the campground where we could get a map of the sites. So embarrassing, but that’s how our night went. What are you gonna do?
Day two we went into Sunriver. We just walked around a bit, and tried to stop in at the brewery. Their system had just gone down and they were having issues seating people and the hostess was just really stressed, so we left and went to a bar down the road we had been at previously, before we headed back to the campground.
We’ve been to the Bend/Sunriver area several times, so we didn’t feel the need to do a lot of exploring. Relaxing at the campground was great for us!
