Day 3, Part 2: Sheep’s milk, Charcuterie, and Bottle Feeding

The farm we stayed at on Night 3 was called Doe’s and Diva’s Dairy and it was amazing! We had a great time visiting with the owner and another couple who were staying the night. The sheep and goats were adorable and fun to watch. We enjoyed watching feeding time and Mike got to bottle feed some babies in the morning. Here are some pictures and more details…

This was dinner time for the animals a little while after we arrived. We met the naughty sheep and watched them shove each other around. No manners!

The owner brought this deliciousness out for us & the other couple staying for the night. We sat and visited, ate these cheeses made from her sheeps’ milk (SO GOOD), and relaxed while listening to the sheep in the background. She was an excellent host.

There’s a cemetery next door to the dairy, so we went for a walk. Half of it was “recent” (1980s and on) and the other half was from the 1800s.

DAY FOUR TECHNICALLY STARTS HERE, but it was more sheep stuff so here you go:

Breakfast time! These huge babies (about 2 1/2 months old, but so big, based on my expert opinion on sheep) are about to be weened off the bottles. We were lucky to get there before that happens. Mike got to help bottle feed them, which he loved.

These sheep (and the few goats) were so much fun and definitely a highlight of the trip so far. We would come back to this spot in a second if we come back through here.

Such a great idea to stay at farms! Have heard of this, but haven’t talked with any folks who’ve done it- loving your descriptions! How did you locate the farms?

There are farms through two memberships we have. I’m actually working on putting up a post soon (hopefully) explaining the different memberships we have. Harvest Host is the one that has farms regularly. It’s a super cool membership, check it out!
