A Long and Short Year

Saturday 1/29 marked one year since we left Detroit. It’s been both the longest and shortest year. It’s strange how it can be both at the same time.

We left on this journey to be in Oregon when our first grandchild was born — which we were. And what a bright light she has been! Perfect little Eva was born March 24, and we are in love.

Here’s our little precious with her mama. 10 1/2 months old.

Plans Change

When we set out, we expected to be back in Detroit in time for Summer, 2022.

Little did we know, everything would change. (I’ll get into that more in another post down the road).

Now we are planning to be back in time for Summer, 2023.

After a whole year gone from home, here’s our new plan…

The journey back home begins on February 24. Our plan is to travel south, then east, then north. We’ll be on the road for ten weeks.

Arrival at our home in Detroit should be May 6 — 15 months after we left — if all goes as planned.

Here we are just a month ago…ready (sort of) to plan the trip home.

Wish us luck!
